Despite the tragedy of last week, I’m still trying push forward in excitement about the new Batman film, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. While part of me wanted to be among the masses who waited in line and stayed up late for the midnight premiere being among that certain group of fans, I’ve come to settle on seeing movies on my own time and with the possibility of a getting a good seat without having to fight for it or strategically plan my spot in line.

So while I hate the fact that I will be looking over my shoulder and doing my best to play ‘Criminal Minds’ BAU profiler this Sunday, I am still excited to being seeing the movie and at the IMAX. Does this mean that I don’t care about the very real tragedy that happened in Colorado? Hell no. It was bad, it was wrong, it was tragic, and it was senseless. Maybe there’s a mental sickness with the shooter or maybe “we” as a society created him, but at the end of the day I’m tired of hearing about him and his “Joker” connection. Hell, this could’ve been at ‘The Avengers’ premiere and the guy could’ve had purple hair and called himself Loki. Yes, I know Loki doesn’t have purple hair and guess what, the Joker doesn’t look like the Heat Miser from the Christmas Claymation, ‘The Year Without a Santa Claus’ either. In the end, let’s forget the man and remember those who unnecessarily lost their lives.

So with that off my chest, this weekend I’ve decided to press on with my original marathon plan in preparation for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Last night was ‘Batman Begins’ and ‘Batman: Mask of the Phantasm’, which is actually almost twenty years old now that I look up the movie… but still awesome. Tonight will be ‘The Dark Knight’ and Sunday the grand finale at the Bob Bullock Museum IMAX.

Looking back at this post, this is more of a rambling than anything, but just thought I’d share. As far as my own fan fiction Batman, last night’s Batman watching did get me pretty psyched about wanting to write more, but I also know that I’m only about five chapters deep with my original steampunk story and with my return to school in the Spring, I’d like to finish it before then. Again, it’s all about time and if I had more of it… well, I’d probably waste it, but ideally I’d write more.
